I'm on a bus, and I'm chatting about [pseudo]random stuff with friends. Shahzad, all of a sudden, claims, "I can ride a bicycle faster than any of you." Varad retaliates, smiling, "Haha really? I know this trick that lets me reach speeds no one can ever think of reaching on a bicycle." I immediately get reminded of this world record, the fastest speed achieved on a bicycle by taking advantage of the slipstream of a vehicle. But both of them deny using this trick; looks like they have something else up their sleeves.
As we approach my stop, Varad whispers into my ear "I'll bring my bicycle and show you my trick if you...", Varad promises to reveal his trick, but asks me something in return, which I can't recall (probably me teaching him how to code, or me teaching him Gen 7 competitive Pokémon, or both), to which I nod. As I get off the bus, I notice Shahzad having a smug look on his face; perhaps he overheard what Varad just "whispered" (let's just say Varad doesn't know how to whisper).
A few hours later, Varad shows up at my door with his bicycle and a weird-looking helmet. As I ask, "Is that a...", "A VR headset? Yes", Varad completes. As I express my concern, "No way! Are you crazy?! You're going to die!", Varad just ignores me and starts riding with his VR headset effectively blindfolding him, "Just wait and watch!"
As he approaches a T intersection, I'm thinking to myself, "There's no way he can see there's no road ahead and has to turn either left or right." But somehow Varad does manage to turn left. I still don't get how any of this is making him go faster. But then I hear a particularly loud car approaching really fast and I turn around to have a look. It's a Saleen S7! What's a car like that doing on a narrow road like this? Oh no, it's approaching the T intersection head-on and there's no sign of slowing down! Oh wait, the car has started drifting! It just barely makes the left turn. LEFT TURN?! That's where Varad is! There's a 100% chance the car's going to collide with Varad and his bicycle!
The Saleen S7 hits Varad from behind. RIP Varad I guess. But no, not yet! The supercar is actually boosting Varad's speed by pushing him from behind, and now Varad is going really fast! As I'm still processing what just happened, Varad disappears from my field of vision and later reemerges from the right side of the T intersection (did he just go around the globe?) and yells at me, "Did you see how fast I was going?!?", "Man, do you have any idea what was happening?", "My VR headset was boosting my speed! Cool right?", "You mean a SALEEN S7 was boosting your speed?", "A Saleen S7?!?" (looks like our friend Varad is aware of the effect but not the cause).
"Tring-tring!", a bicycle bell goes off interrupting our frantic exchange. It's none other than Shahzad, with another weird-looking helmet. "Not you too! Another VR headset?", "No, wayy better than that, an AR headset!" As I think to myself, "Which supercar does that summon?", Shahzad reads my mind, "This one summons planes!"
